After I heard that Karen DeVries was going to be a consultant, I went back to the Board's minutes and didn't see her name listed as a consultant. I thought maybe she was hired by one of the companies listed on the minutes as consultants. It just seemed that many things were done before the new Board members come on, such as hiring DeVries and promoting Jill Baker to Asst. Supt.

The new Deputy Supt., Chris Dominguez, is apparently a good friend of Steinhauser's. Allegedly he offered her the position a few years back, before he offered it to Karen DeVries. But, at the time, Chris Dominguez didn't want it. I don't know her but one hears things. She seems to be difficult to work with but administrators at the school sites seem to like her. Allegedly, she has taken on no new responsibilities, despite her promotion. She's still doing what she did when she was Asst. Supt. of Curriculum.

Many of our great district leaders have gone to San Diego to work with LBUSD's former Supt., Carl Cohn. Carl was very well-liked in the district, by everyone! He had a way about him that was very appealing and everyone felt important. Good people are jumping ship and looking at Huntington Beach and San Diego.
